Serious Case Reviews (SCRs) are going through an intense period of scrutiny surrounding their future direction. The Government have yet to respond to recommendations in the Munro Review on children’s and ministerial plans to implement adults’ SCRs on a statutory footing to raise questions about the role of adults’ SCRs.
Although no-one would want to have to implement a SCR when required, SCRs must be used to inform practice - and ultimately, to prevent future tragedies from occurring. It is crucial they are carried out comprehensively and contribute to an open and honest learning culture among those professionals in the adults’ and children’s arena.
This Community Care conference will consider the practicalities of carrying out both adults’ and children’s SCRs and offer insights into good practice around implementation, partner involvement and managing the aftermath.
