How do we best protect and promote the wellbeing of children: Hopefulness and avoiding parental despair vs. finding hope on the other side of parental despair

An interactive rolling real case involving the escalation of child protection concerns and then de-escalating into early intervention.  Participants will be invited to take part in discussing: concerns, analyse risks and strengths, formulating plans of intervention - measuring outcomes. Participants will use specific theoretical models: systemic, solution focused, other cognitive and behavioural and psychodynamic models to make sense of the case and in the construction of interventions.
This will be followed by analysis and consideration given to the effectiveness of different theoretical approaches to this case and participants will reflect on the implication if any for their practice
Perdeep Gill, Independent Safeguarding Advisor and Consultant
